Fascinating about internal dialogue. I have both I can talk to myself or turn it off
I never literally "hear" anything though, its more like I can "think" a conversation with myself.

    Sorry I am 2 years late 🙂

I had to go back to play this gem of a video. The arc of Jeannie is a wild one. Her face of realization is so pure.

My only question is: If you don't have an internal monologue, what happens when you pause to think? What happens when you read silently? I'm beyond curious

No inner monologue? How do you read if you can’t hear it in your noggin?

If I'm reading a really good book my brain will turn it into a movie I can watch while I'm reading so I see it play out while reading

When I read books I do it in what I assume would be what they sound like not my own voice,,, Am I next level? I also can voice Link in my head when he answers stuff but you don't know what he is saying!

No Olympic pistol is a PCP which is an air gun. That’s why they use it. It has no recoil.
    Thanks 🙏

I use to only very rarely if ever have an internal monologue until college then I developed that skill a little bit. I make noises all the time.

The think that got me was finding out that deaf people before sign language had neither an internal nor external monologue. Many of them couldnt even read or right because people just assumed they were “deaf and dumb”. I was like, well I don’t have a voice in my head either and I often think without words and I ended up explaining to the class what it was like.

If it weren’t for my inner dialogue I’d be the most boring person in the world. Well, I suppose I’d be boring but I’ve never told myself I was.

Glad i watched this cause as a child i did think i was "off" due to my internal monologue good to know others have it too does anybody else monologue change when their reading a book?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Philip Alexander Hassialis says:

Pffft. I don't have an internal monologue – but only on certain cases. I read silently, I can replay songs in my head etc. But my thoughts are mostly silent, I don't "hear" myself thinking them. Sometimes though and only sometimes, under great duress when I need to improvise something or the discussion goes to shit I can hear the words and several scenarios play in my head before I open my mouth. Strange, innit?
