We are actually currently in an ice age. The glacial period ended 11000 years ago. But the definition of an ice age is a time period where the planets poles are permafrost.
Technically we still live in the Ice Age, just in a hot period of the Ice Age.
The ice age is still ongoing; we're simply between glacial periods. The ice age will end when there are no longer permanent ice sheets. That's right, the world is too cold.
