I went to that same shooting range years ago and personally after shooting some pistols, I felt confident in never owning a gun unless I really did not feel safe in the area I lived. Something about actually handling a gun and firing it makes you realize just how much damage you could cause to a living being and I hope to never be in that kind of situation.
Also, like shown here, it is VERY loud (much more than you would expect if you've never been).
Having said that, I only got to fire pistols and wouldn't mind trying some rifles in the future.
